Just a young writer...

Happy New Years! Here's some more of my writing for any fans out there :D Feel free to comment your opinions!

“She doesn’t have a pulse,” the older man muttered.
“She’s dead,” the other said.
Destiny bit her lip, kneeling next to the girl. She scowled, tears filling her eyes but she blinked them away. Torris stooped down, closing the girl's blue eyes. For the first time, Lydia noticed the marks burned on her neck, making a black necklace around her throat.
"Who did this to her?" Lydia whispered.
"A Magus traitor," one of the strangers said. He couldn't have been older than twenty, blonde curls falling in his chocolate brown eyes. Lydia felt her heart flutter in recognition. She knew him though she wished she didn't.

Todd Strasser

You know you're a nerd when you spend all of Christmas Eve reading a horror story. Well, more like a mystery. The book is called Wish You Were Dead by Todd Strasser. (Yeah, I know, kinda dark) otherwise it was a really good little mystery. I liked how if you were paying proper attention you could have figured out who the murderer was but guess what, I wasn't.
It's definitely one to check out.

Anthony Horowitz 2

Anthony Horowitz truly knows how to write a story. One of his newer series (at least I'm guessing it's newer) The Gatekeepers is VERY real and yet completely fiction. It's almost like he takes what he did in Alex Rider with science and mixes it with magic.
One of the things you should know about me is that I think British books are weird (absolutely no offense to British writers, keep it up) but I find those novels strange. I know, stupid American. This one, well, I'm only on the second book but I just have to say, I'm hooked.

Kiera Cass

So this was a really enticing love story. It's called The Selection by Kiera Cass. It's about a future United States that isn't called that at all. The people are ranked, One, Two and so on until Eight which is considered homeless. One is royalty. America Singer, the main girl, is a Five. Anyway, it's a really fun read and the cliff hanger just makes you want the second one.
This is defiantly something you all should read. A sweet, attractive prince, handsome commoner, beautiful redhead and so many dresses (and jeans (; ) and even the stirring of a rebellion. Pure genius. Well done, well done.

Suzanne Collins

I just realized that the whole (however many months I've had this blog) that I haven't written a single post just about one of the most famous books in America. None other than The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins.
We all have our opinions on this book, whether it's a masterpiece or a horrible way of someone's seemingly unrealistic reality. The thing is, and I've had many debates on the subject, it's neither, or at least it turned into neither. Despite what some people may say, The Hunger Games is a work of art. The idea of the story is harsh, cruel, and over all, a nightmare none of us would ever dare experience. But nonetheless, a work of art.
Catching Fire was likewise horrifyingly amazing. The kind of courage and self-control that Katniss possesses is both believable and inspiring. The pure love between her, her family, Peeta, Gale and many others is enough to keep the reader entertained. I thought both were outstanding.
And than came Mockingjay...many fans probably won't like my opinion on the matter.
No, I did not like it at all. (except for the epilogue, that was very good) Honestly it felt like she just got bored. To me, it seemed as though Katniss went from this strong, independent, young leader to a broken, half insane, little girl that took orders until she didn't get what she wanted. Now many are probably thinking "Well, what do you expect? She's been through the Games! Twice!" and yes, she has.
But I've always believe that no matter what, the protagonist should be able to do the impossible. That despite everything, he\she should be different than everyone else. Unique in their ability to overcome all those things. Personally, I feel like Mrs. Collins just put in a whole bunch of unnecessary stuff (I think all who've read the book know what I'm talking about) and ended it like a girl ends a diary.
All in all, Suzanne Collins got the 2 out of 3 and the series was an amazing idea and I'm happy I could read it.

(P.S. yes, I was "team" Peeta, if you will, but I did like Gale's wit. And I really like who they chose for those three)

Jessica Day George

For those of you who enjoy a good retelling of fairy tales, this one's for you. It's called Princess of the Midnight Ball by Jessica Day George. (also a part of this series is Princess of Glass and Princess of the Silver Woods)
My two favorite things to write/read about is battles (bloody, swords, arrows...that sort of thing) and romance. In other words, the "red" writings. This story has both though, since it is a fairy tale retelling, a little more romance.
Not only is Galen one of my new favorite male heroes, it is a very interesting point of view of The Twelve Dancing Princesses. Not to mention the dresses on the covers. Oh my gosh, where can I get one? I love those designs (call me old fashion) Totally a to read.

Veronica Roth

Yep, I think this is just about one of the best Utopian Society books I've read in a long time. Divergent by Veronica Roth is pure genius. Yes, there were certain places that I really wanted to throw the book at the wall, but besides those I thought it was amazing. Imagine an average girl in a not so average world. With a not so average guy. (of course there's always a guy)
Roth is really able to make the character's grow from what they were at the beginning of the story and turn into someone believable. It really is a great book and I highly insist on reading it. But I would caution (for those of you, you know who you are) that it does swear and there is a...somewhat awkward part in it. Nothing happens. Just a word of caution :D I Love This Book!!

Halloween stories!!

Yeah, yeah I know; I haven't been updating in a while...just trying to get into the Halloween spirit. I've been reading the obvious scary stories (R.L. Stine, that's what I'm talking about) but I'm been trying to get my hands on a copy of Frankenstein but alas, I apparently don't, considering that this post would probably be about that if I had. I love reading those Halloween stories that get you're blood chilling and prevents you from falling asleep at night.
Some of the books or short stories I'd suggest for this...horror holiday would be: Any R.L Stine books, I love his writing. Edgar Allen Poe is a given, it's kinda a crime not to read his work at this time of year. Agatha Cristy is a old time classic that is obviously a classic for a reason. And though I have not read it, Frankenstein by Mary Shelley ( I think, not sure) is a Halloween necessity.
There are many others out there, I just don't have enough time in one day to read them all, nor the state of mind..

Rick Riordan

It took me until midnight, but I finally finished The House of Hades by (we all know who) Rick Riordan. I wasn't disappointed. All in all, I thought it was a wonderful book. Now I'm not going to give any spoilers away so I won't tell you what I didn't like. Honestly, the thing I didn't like isn't what those of you who have read the book would think. In this one, you get to know ALL the characters better; some of their goals, why they are really there, and what risks some of them will go to. I personally saw a side of Leo, Jason, and Percy that I hadn't seen before. I hope all you Percy Jackson and Heroes of Olympus enjoy this. I thought that it was SO much better then The Mark of Athena but that's just me. Read it for yourselves.

Harlan Coben

So I was lookin' around my library, you know, like every respectable teenage geek, and I come across this book (shocking, I know, books in the library.)There was nothing specifically interesting about said novel, nothing excessively large, no amazingly bright colors. Just a book. So, obviously, I picked it up. It's called Shelter by Harlan Coben. Oh my gosh, that was a cool book.
Things I often notice when it comes to short novels is the author tends to rush things, or not put in enough detail. Coben had this amazing ability to get the story going fairly swiftly but he could slow down and explain with out dragging the main idea. Very well. Very good book.

Harper Lee

I've been wanting to do this post for a while. I just recently finished the book (we were reading it in class and I didn't know we could read ahead or else this would have been posted a heck of a long time ago) It's called To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. I assume most people have heard of it considering that it is one of the greatest novels of all time. Wow, it was an ingenious story full of mystery, racial discrimination, growing up,and a guilt that felt so real. Lee writes it in such a way that you literally become the characters and you can't help but wonder if...I'll let you finish that thought. Definitely a to read. :D

Ally Condie

This is to all you LDS (Mormons) folks out there! If you want a really good realistic series I would suggest Yearbook by Allyson Braithwaite Condie (Ally Condie author of the New York Times bestseller Matched) This is a really well written story just about a few Mormon high schoolers and how they hold to their values. If you are not LDS but are interested in the religion, I would also suggest this book to you. It is very good and even made my cry in the end. Thank you Mrs. Condie! Nicely done :D

More of me

So, I'm currently really bored (useless fact of your day) so I'm gonna post some more of my work. Enjoy. :)

Ben gasped, “Myron!” he tried to control his breathing, tried not to make any sudden movements toward his son.
The man laughed, “You thought you could hide from me?” he asked with an incredulous undertone, “Benjamin Carter how naïve of you; very sloppy work you’ve done here.”
Ben gritted his teeth, fighting back tears, “How did you get here?” he seethed.
