Markus Zusak

Beautiful.
Word cannot describe how I feel about this book; but I'll try my best.
Picture something terrible. Something that awakes the whole world to the reality of death, fear, blood, and most of all, the ability to love despite the brutality going on around you. If you can picture this, you have only the slightest hint of emotions I uncovered while reading The Book Thief by Markus Zusak.
World War 2 was a horrifying time for all who were involved. Which was everyone, everywhere. This book brings us deep into the center of Nazi, Germany and takes us on an adventure that is truly life changing.
Never before have I read a book from Death's view. (Apologizes to any who have written from Death's perspective) but I doubt anyone could have madeDeath so lifelike, so human yet so obviously supernatural.
This book is unique. It deserves whatever awards it's received and more. I encourage EVERYONE to read it. I'm not kidding when I say it will change your life, how you view death, love and even the words that make up our world.
The Book Thief is beauty in the midst of brutality.

"I have hated words and
I have loved them,
and I hope I have made them right."
-The Book Thief (Pg. 528)
