Hey! Yeah, I know I did one of these only a few posts ago but I haven't been able to finish any books of late. But I was feeling in a...writing mood. Hope you all enjoy!
The
room is pitch black. There’s no sound besides the occasional scurry of rat
nails on the dank stone floor.
No, wait. There’s one other thing.
A body. Not dead, but close.
A girl. Any individual features are
obscured by the obsessive black.
She will starve before long.
A man watches her. He’s tall, gray
streaking through his dark hair; the gray eyes hard. Like any man in that town,
he has a gun.
The girl twitches, her body tensing
as consciousness slowly, oh so slowly, begins to awaken her mind.
The man smiles.
She
can’t remember. Any memory she tries to force-her name, all the who’s, what’s,
where’s and how’s of her situation are all missing from the single thought of now.
She shudders, the inexplicable chill
of the place, the heavy dampness that crawls under her collar and kisses her
skin in gentle bursts of ice, is all compiling together to form a single knot
of fear in the pit of her stomach.
Then, and only then, does she open
her eyes.
Black.
Gray.
A smile.
